Juvenal Habyarimana was president of Rwanda from July 5, 1973 till his assasination on April 6, 1994. 500 Francs issued on 19.4.1974 is the only banknote with his image or image of any Rwandian dignitary. Special Z prefix was assigned for this print run. There is only 5-digit serial number so the total number of banknotes printed can not exceed 100,000. The banknote is the exact copy of P-9 500 francs with one exception: the Arms of Rwanda have been replaced with the image of General Habyarimana and 6-digit serial number have been replaced by 5-digit serial number. Next date on P-9 500 Francs is 30.10.1974, just 6 months after the Habyarimana banknote was issued.
