Obverse: On the front of the note and towards the right is a portrait of Manuel Rodriguez Erdoyza, partially covering a picture of the monument to him by the Chilean scupltress Blanca Merino Lizana which is at the centre of the note.
At the top, starting from the left are the words “BANCO CENTRAL DE CHILE” and below this is the coincident image, a security design which is only visually completed by the marks on the back of the note. At the bottom left is the value of the note in figures “2000” and at the bottom right in letters “DOS MIL PESOS” with tiny repeated printing of “BANCOCENTRALDECHILE” underlining these words.
At the upper right is the value in figures “2000” above the variable image.
In the lower central area of the note are the words “PRESIDENT” and “GERENTE GENERAL” with their corresponding signatures and above them the year of printing.
At the upper left-hand side is the serial number comprising two letters, followed by two digits corresponding to the year of printing, followed by six digits. The serial number is repeated in smaller size at the right of the portrait. At the lower right-hand side is the name of the historic character portrayed “MANUEL RODRÍGUEZ E.”.
All the components of the front of the note are complemented by ornate embellishments and intricate patterns to ensure that the note is as difficult as possible to counterfeit.

Reverse: The central design features the Church of Los Dominicos. At the top left and occupying two lines are the words “BANCO CENTRAL DE CHILE” below which is the value of the note in words, “DOS MIL PESOS”, also occupying two lines.
At the bottom left and at the top right appears the value in figures, “2000”.
To the lower right of the central design is a circular seal, a partial representation of the logo of the Central Bank of Chile, without prejudice to Resolution No. 314-02-931014. All the components of the back of the note are complemented by ornate embellishments and intricate patterns to ensure that the note is as difficult as possible to counterfeit.

Watermark: The watermark is a portrait of Manuel Rodriguez Erdoyza facing outwards, placed below and to the right of the complex window when viewed from the front of the note.

Size: 145mm x 70mm
Material: Polymer .
Complex window: At the left on the front (at the right on the reverse) there is a transparent inset forming a window which shows the number “2000” in relief. The window is surrounded by degrees of shading that vary according to how the note is moved.
Second window: A second smaller transparent window is placed at the right on the front of the note (at the left on the back).
Security thread: The security thread crosses the note vertically to the left of the main portrait of Manuel Rodriguez Erdoyza. It bears the words “DOS MIL” repeated along its whole length.
Coincident image: A hexagonal figure partially depicting a torch appears at the left of the central design on the front of the note and at the upper right of the illustration of the Church of Los Dominicos on the back of the note. On both sides the complete figure can be seen by holding the note up to the light.
Colours: Varying shades of blue, violet, carmine, ochre, and orange.
Printing: Offset, intaglio, letterpress and varnish after printing.
Identification for the blind:
On the unprinted area to the left is a rhombus that can be detected by touch.
Variable image:
In the upper right area on the front of the note below the “2000” is an ornate figure containing the letters B and C visible only when the note is viewed at an angle.

The new Chilean peso was introduced on 29 September 1975 by decree 1,123, replacing the escudo at a rate of 1 peso for 1000 escudos.
