Obverse: The Sri Saptakoteshwar temple of Lord Shiva, Narve-Bicholim (near Panaji, Goa) at centre, steamship low left, value at left and right and at each corner, Coat of arms of Portugal low centre. Lisboa, 1 January 1938.
Reverse: Tiger at centre.
Signed by the Governor and Vice-Governor.

Thomas de la Rue of London printed the notes on unwatermarked paper. The text
underneath the bank name, EM / NOVA GOA, translates as "Overseas National Bank in New Goa." Once a small village, Nova Goa is now a city known as Panaji and is the capital of the Indian state of Goa.
