Obverse: Portrait of Viktor Kaplan (November 27, 1876 – August 23, 1934) , Austrian engineer and the inventor of the Kaplan turbine.
Reverse: Ybbs-Persenbeug Hydro Power Station and Renaissance castle of Persenbeug, Lower Austria.

Ybbs-Persenbeug Hydro Power Station. Completed in 1959 it was the first river-water-run power plant on the Austrian Danube. Located on the right and left banks, each building has 3 vertical turbines. In 1996 the 7th unit, Europe’s biggest Kaplan turbine, was installed in a separate power house in the tail waters on the right bank of the Danube.
