These banknotes were first designed, printed, and released for circulation when Canada was still a province. All of these notes are dated as October 1st 1866. They were actually printed and used for several years after that date.

Obverse: Queen Victoria is pictured on the left hand side of the note, sailing boat at right. Great Seal of the Province of Canada, following the union of Upper and Lower Canada in 1840, flanked by seated Britannia as Indian Princess with a lion.
Reverse: Inscription - The Province of Canada an center, flanked by face value in ornate guilloche.
Printer: American Bank Note Company, New York.
